MK Dons Women are excited to announce the launch of the first sister club programme. For the remainder of the 21/22 season AFC Dunstable Women will become the clubs first sister club, partnering up with MK Dons Women.
The sister club programme has been launched to provide opportunity for the clubs’ young talent in the development team to experience senior women's football. On the launch of the programme, Jack Sharp, Head of Football & Performance commented:
“This programme is critical to the function of player development at the club. With this in place, we can provide opportunity for identified talent to experience senior women's football for the first time in an environment where winning 3 points is a measurement of success.”
The partnership is expected the help the development of players within Milton Keynes, as Jack Sharp continued, “This programme will allow our players to experience football diversity at another club that will support our players in developing the mindset and mentality needed to step up into our first team.”
But not only are MK Dons Women set to benefit, the Partnership will prove to be a great help to AFC Dunstable too. On the partnership, Sally Collins, AFC Dunstable Women’s Vice President said the following.
“AFC Dunstable Women are buzzing to be in partnering with the MK Dons to help progress young players by giving them access to Women’s football in our competitive league. Our Committee Coaches and players are fully engaged and committed to this fantastic partnership which we believe will be very beneficial to both clubs”
Sally continued, “We are very excited at the prospect of having young talented players loaned to us from the MK Dons with a joint vision to help them progress on their pathway to first team football at their Club. The benefit to AFC Dunstable Women is immense. As a Club we can benefit from so much of MK Dons blueprint and successes.”
