MK Dons SET and sponsors join forces to deliver Christmas hampers to 900 people in Milton Keynes

MK Dons, MK Dons Sport and Education Trust and a number of local partners, including Suzuki GB, have come together this Christmas to provide hampers for up to 900 people across Milton Keynes.

Last year, 100 Christmas hampers were delivered to those in need in Milton Keynes but, this festive period, that number has increased to 250, which will be enough to provide food, gifts and resources to 900 people within the community.

Volunteers from Suzuki GB, Marshall Amplification, Yamaha and Reedbut and the Stadium MK group have joined forces to create and pack the hampers, which will be sent out on Wednesday (23rd December) ahead of Christmas Day.

Maralyn Smith, Chief Executive of MK Dons Sport and Education Trust, said:
“At a time when the majority of us will be celebrating Christmas, there are others who, particularly with Covid-19 still an issue, will be finding things very difficult.

“By providing 250 hampers, we can hopefully provide hundreds of families across the city with something to look forward to this festive period.

“We are working with a number of business to ensure the orders are in and the boxes are made and packed in time for the 23rd, when we aim to deliver them across Milton Keynes.

“We are so grateful to all those involved for making this possible, especially Suzuki, without whom the work we do wouldn’t be possible.”

MK Dons Chairman Pete Winkelman said: “We should be hugely proud of the work our Sport and Education Trust has done throughout the Covid-19 crisis, not least delivering 250 hampers to the people that need it this Christmas.

“As a Football Club, we play a vital role in bringing everyone together in Milton Keynes but initiatives like this couldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors and, particularly, Suzuki GB.

“It’s a fabulous thing our relationship with Suzuki GB. People often think it’s just about the name on the front of the shirt but it’s so much more than that - they are incredibly supportive of everything we are doing in the community.”

Nobuo Suyama, Managing Director at Suzuki GB PLC, commented: “We are delighted and proud to be working closely again with MK Dons Sports Education Trust and local charities with the Christmas Hampers initiative for local families in need.

“We hope it will make a real difference to their festive season in being able to have a full Christmas meal with our compliments, particularly after another challenging year with the pandemic adding difficulties for so many.”

Suyama added: “Suzuki has been based in Milton Keynes for over 16 years and we are very pleased to again reach out to local people outside our business and spread some Christmas goodwill along the way. A very Merry Christmas from us all at Suzuki and here’s to a safe and prosperous 2022”
